The Noise is officially declaring May 1 Ellen Allien Day in celebration of her appearance tonight here in Seattle at Chop Suey.

I’ve been hooked on her music ever since the first time I heard Stadtkind. I even started a tribe on Tribe devoted to her and Miss Kittin. I have waited at least 5 years for the opportunity to finally see her spin. 2008 is already proving to be a busy year for her, with the recent release of Volume 4 of Bpitch Control’s Boogy Bytes series and the forthcoming new artist album release, SOOL (in collaboration with another electronic music goddess, AGF.*)

I am a little bit dismayed that people are not showing the love for Ellen’s more minimal leanings on Boogy Bytes Vol. 4 (that’s the general vibe I’ve been getting from the reviews that I’ve read.) I personally like the new mix…I can envision myself driving on the freeway in the middle of the night mentally trancing out while listening.
Along for the ride is her Bpitch Control co-hort Sascha Funke (see also Boogy Bytes Vol. 2) who has also put out a great new artist album (Mango) as well.

I can hardly contain my excitement for tonight’s show! I am hoping to take some photos. Stay tuned.
